U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AfCFTA Secretariat Pledge to Promote Trade Between Africa and the United States

[AfCFTA News] – The AfCFTA Secretariat has announced yesterday (December 13, 2022) the signing of an MOU with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center to promote trade and create better business environments in Africa and the United States.

According to the AfCFTA Secretariat, this MoU signed at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit is a big step towards improving trade relations between Africa and the United States. The agreement will promote trade and support the creation of more conducive conditions for business environments to thrive.

During that U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, the AfCFTA’s Secretary-General, Wamkele MENE, also participated yesterday in the “Advance with Africa” programme organised by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa under the theme: “Changing the narrative around the African business climate and dispelling myths to create new opportunities for American businesses, big and small”.

President Joe Biden is hosting leaders from across the African continent in Washington, DC on December 13-15, 2022, for the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit. 

The Summit will demonstrate the United States enduring commitment to Africa and will underscore the importance of U.S.-Africa relations and increased cooperation on shared global priorities.

According to the US, Africa will shape the future — not just the future of the African people, but of the world. “Africa will make the difference in tackling the most urgent challenges and seizing the opportunities we all face”, said the Joe Biden government.
